Clean Working Space:
In this hobby, you will need either a “Still Air Box” (SAB) or a flowhood. When used correctly, they are both highly effective at reducing contamination during sterile procedures. A SAB is far cheaper, but takes a little more preparation and knowledge to use correctly (think of it as a manual transmission car). Once you get the hang of it, you can do more than you can than with a flowhood.
You can get by for your first grow without either (it’s a lot riskier but if you are using quality syringes and taking some precautionary measures, you can be successful), but once you would like to start doing things like making your own syringes, taking spore prints, cloning, and agar work in general, you will need to have one of these tools.
